How much does junk removal cost in Metro Detroit?
Pricing is based on how much of our 18-cubic-yard truck your load fills, from a single item up to a full truck. The crew looks at the load and the access, confirms one total on site, and nothing is loaded until you approve it. Labor and disposal are included in that total.
Can I get a quote from a photo?
Yes. Text a photo of the pile and the crew can size the job before the visit. The photo sets expectations; the total itself is confirmed in person once the crew sees the load and the access, and nothing is loaded until you approve it.
Can you come today?
Same-day and next-day pickups are often available when the schedule allows. Call to see what today's route has open, or book online and pick a two-hour arrival window: 9 to 11, 11 to 1, 1 to 3, or 3 to 5. The crew works seven days a week, 8am to 8pm, across Metro Detroit and Ann Arbor.
Do I need to move everything to the curb first?
No. The crew carries items out from wherever they sit: the basement, the attic, an upstairs bedroom, or the back of the garage. Stairs and tight doorways are covered in the total the crew confirms on site, before anything is loaded, so there is nothing to haul out ahead of time.
Is Veteran Junk Removal licensed and insured?
Yes. Veteran Junk Removal is licensed and insured. It is a veteran-owned business based in Taylor, MI, owned by Eric and Holly Bardallis and serving Metro Detroit and Ann Arbor since 2020. The crew does not take on structural demolition or pull permits, so check with your local building department if a deck, shed, or remodel project needs one.
Do you offer any discounts?
Yes. Veterans, first responders, seniors, nurses and healthcare workers, and teachers get a discount. Mention it when you book so it's applied to the total the crew confirms on site. The discount comes off that single total, which already includes the labor and the disposal, and you approve the final number before anything is loaded.
What won't you take?
Tires, batteries, paint, motor oil and fluids, propane tanks, chemicals and solvents, asbestos, biohazard and medical waste, firearms and ammunition, boats, and vehicles. Those need a household hazardous waste program or a specialist. Furniture, appliances, electronics, yard debris, construction debris, and heavy items like pianos and safes are all fine.
What happens to my stuff after you haul it away?
We donate and recycle whenever possible, where local facilities accept the items, whether that's furniture, metal, or electronics, and whatever they can't take is disposed of properly. Disposal is already part of the total the crew confirms on site before anything is loaded, so nothing is added for it afterward.
How do I pay?
Cash, check, or credit card. You approve the total on site before the crew loads anything, and that total already includes the labor and the disposal, so the number you approve covers the whole pickup. If you qualify for the discount for veterans, first responders, seniors, nurses and healthcare workers, or teachers, mention it at booking so it is already in that number.
Do you handle commercial and property management jobs?
Yes. Property managers, apartment communities, HOAs, offices, warehouses, retail spaces, and contractors can book the crew on demand or on a weekly or monthly schedule. Tenant turnovers, dumpster overflow cleanups, and common-area cleanups are all part of it. Each visit is priced the same way, by truck space, with the total confirmed on site before loading.
Do I need to be home for the pickup?
Tell us when you book. The crew confirms the total on site, and nothing is loaded until you approve it, so plan how that approval will happen before your two-hour window starts. If you won't be there, raise it at booking so it gets sorted out before the crew arrives.
How long does a pickup take?
It depends on how much is going and how easy it is to reach. A single item near the door is quick; a packed basement up a narrow staircase takes longer. The time involved is already covered in the total the crew confirms before loading.
What should I do before the crew arrives?
Point out what's going and what's staying, clear a path if you can, and mention anything still connected, like a hot tub or a gas appliance, when you book. You don't need to carry anything out or bag loose items ahead of time. If the load includes concrete, dirt, or shingles, mention that too, since those are priced case by case.
Can you take everything in one pickup?
The truck bed holds 18 cubic yards. Bigger jobs, like a full estate or a large commercial cleanout, may need more than one load, and the crew tells you that when it confirms the total on site, before anything is loaded. Texting a photo ahead of time helps the crew size a big job before the visit.
What if I only have one or two things?
That's fine. Single items like a couch, a mattress, or an old refrigerator are priced on their own, and the crew confirms that total on site the same way it does for a full truck. Stairs or a tight doorway are covered in that total, so there is nothing to carry out yourself first.
Why don't you list a price per item?
Because a couch on the porch and a couch in a basement are different jobs. Pricing is based on how much of the truck your load fills and how hard it is to reach, so the crew confirms one total on site, including labor and disposal, before anything is loaded.
Are there any extra fees?
Anything that changes the price, like heavy materials, stairs, or a hot tub that needs disconnecting, is covered in the total the crew confirms on site before loading. You see and approve that one number before anything goes on the truck. The labor and the disposal are already inside that total as well.
Is the estimate free?
